Nothing catches God unaware. He is all-knowing. “For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight.” –Ephesians 1:4
I struggle with sin in so many ways as any other human. Like the lyrics of one of my favorite Nancy Honeytree songs says: “Life is a battle all day through, a warring of the old ways against the new…”. Temptations come constantly, so I am always relying on God’s strength through the power of the Holy Spirit and I know I am covered by His son’s blood. Knowing I am sealed with the promised Holy Spirit only then am I able to rest in God’s peace.
My life has been forever changed. I have been forgiven much – more than I want to share, but that just adds to my empathy for others in their struggles with daily temptations. There is more. In Ephesians 1:5 & 6 Paul writes: “…He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. Paul mentions the phrase “praise of His glory” more than once in this chapter because that’s what God created us to be. All that power is given freely to anyone willing to accept it through the sacrifice that Jesus made for us on the cross. We were created to manifest that power, the same power that raised Jesus and the same power that will provide a way out of temptation and allow us to endure temptation.
I want to always praise God. He is so worthy, and that is my purpose.
